WORKSHOP AT TOWNHOUSE GALLERY & HD VIDEO, 5'35", 2011

The Waiting Panorama is the result of a four-day film workshop at SAWA Outreach Program in Cairo. The aim of the workshop was to produce a film work, revolving around the theatrical and cinematic genre of Tableau Vivant, which would address the living situation of a Cairo citizen. Urban society is arranged in a long series of moments of waiting and for certain citizens the act of waiting even becomes a forced state of being. The typical waiting situation was turned upside down in a series of “living pictures” generated collaboratively in the workshop. The act of waiting became the generator for discussions and interpretations – waiting for citizenship, waiting for revolution, waiting for love, waiting for answers, waiting for food, waiting to get home, waiting no more. The Waiting Panorama does not present waiting as a passive moment but on the contrary as an active living movement. All participants of the workshop are the directors of The Waiting Panorama.
