INTERVENTION AT ROSKILDE MUSIC FESTIVAL, 2013

On the Roskilde Music Festival outside Copenhagen a barbershop opened with the invitation: Barbershop - Haircuts with or without citizenship. People seeking asylum in Denmark are not allowed to work or study, with one exception - hairdressing school. We wish to point out the absurdity of this legislation. Drop by the barbershop and get a free haircut from professionals who are not allowed to have a profession. Having your hair cut is a situation of intimacy and trust, a space for interaction and understanding - the kind of space we aim to create with visAvis. In 2009 I was the co-creator of visAvis - a magazine on asylum and migration, the movement of people across borders and the challenges connected to this.

visAvis is a magazine on asylum and migration, the movement of people across borders and the challenges connected to this. We work to improve the debate on asylum and migration, among other things by publishing texts that people seeking asylum want to share. visAvis is an activist project where people with and without citizenship in Denmark meet to create an alternative public space and debate.
